Dear Mr. Consul General,

On behalf the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki I would like to express our deepest and most sincere condolences, on the passing of former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt.

The German State and Europe overall, mourns the loss of one of the most prominent leaders of the post-war period.

His multifaceted personality, solid moral principles, clear vision and profound understanding on the issues of the global political arena made him not only an influential political figure but a person that enjoyed the respect of his colleagues and of the general public.

His achievements and devotion will serve as an inspiration for the future generations that will follow his steps.

May God rest his soul and comfort his family in a time of grief.
